StarHub Appoints Deputy CEO of Parent Company as its Director of Business and Markets

STARHUB has appointed Nikhil Eapen, current Deputy CEO of parent company ST Telemedia, as its new CEO.

Eapen, 48, will start on StarHub on January 1 of next year. He replaces Peter Kaliaropoulos, 61, who resigned on October 31 this year due to serious health problems for a family member.

Terry Clontz, President of StarHub, said on Friday: “This appointment is the result of a rigorous and extensive global executive search. As a seasoned executive with a proven track record of regional achievement and extensive knowledge of the industry, my fellow directors and myself We are confident that Nikhil is well qualified to lead StarHub in managing the challenges facing operators today and in seeking new opportunities. “

StarHub said the key criteria for selection included “strong leadership”; senior executive experience in telecommunications and adjacent industries; understanding of the new dynamics of the market around intense competition; strong track record of successful corporate transformation, mergers and acquisitions and corporate background to grow the business; and experience in leading diverse teams to cope with rapid changes in a highly competitive environment.

Mr. Eapen has been ST Telemedia’s Deputy General Manager since August 2018. Prior to that, he was the company’s Chief Investment and Strategy Officer for about three years.

Prior to ST Telemedia, Mr. Eapen was an investment banker for more than 18 years at Citigroup, working out of the bank’s offices in Hong Kong, New York and Southeast Asia.

StarHub shares closed 0.77 percent lower at Singapore $ 1.29 on the Friday before the announcement.
