England youth Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood will not be traveling with the team to Denmark today after footage emerged of the couple taking the girls to the team’s hotel in Iceland.

The pair made their senior international debut in victory over Iceland on Saturday, but those achievements have now been eclipsed.

His conduct in bringing the girls back has violated the FA’s rules of conduct for players while on international service.

Manchester City midfielder Foden started for Gareth Southgate’s side against Iceland on Saturday night, making his senior international debut, while Manchester United striker Greenwood came off the bench to win the same accolade.

“I think right now I’m trying to put in a lot of information,” Southgate said at Monday’s news conference.

“Obviously they have been naive, we have handled it properly. I recognize your age but the whole world is dealing with this pandemic.

“I am a father with children, young adults, I know that people are wrong. I do not excuse it in this case.

“These are two guys that I don’t know particularly well at the moment, so I can’t speak in depth. I have to try to talk to them later in the appropriate way. They have responsibilities and they have apologized.”

“This is a job like no other in terms of the things you have to deal with. In terms of what is expected, the players who have been with us the longest know exactly what is expected: every time people cross that line, we’ve addressed it properly.

“The two guys will find themselves in a position where there will be many judgments on them from afar.

“They understand that they were wrong. Our job is to continue with the game.”

Southgate added: “Nothing has happened in the areas we occupy in the hotel. We are still getting the deeper information. We are still getting familiar with the details. We have spent so much time taking measurements and the whole team followed suit. That at the foot of the lyrics.

“I’m not going to go into more details until I clarify everything. No one from outside the hotel has been in the areas we occupy.”
