Solskjaer ‘disappointed’ Man United did not win

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that he was frustrated that Manchester United did not beat Leicester City as they had opportunities to “finish” the game.

It was an entertaining finale at King Power Stadium. Manchester United struck first in the 23rd minute through Marcus Rashford. Bruno Fernandes gave the Englishman a touch that beat Kasper Schmeichel well.

However, Leicester responded shortly after the half hour mark. Fernandes was caught in possession, prompting Harvey Barnes to launch a great shot from the box that went over David De Gea.

Man United looked like they had won it as they took the lead again in the 79th minute. Edinson Cavani was the provider when he set up Fernandes, who swept the ball home past Schmeichel.

But the Foxes struck back with five minutes to go, as Jamie Vardy’s deflected blow evaded De Gea to make it 2-2.

With this result, Man United remains one point and one place behind Leicester in third place. If Liverpool beat West Brom on Sunday, they will be six points clear at the top.

Speaking to BT Sport after the match, quoted by BBC Sport, Solskjaer said that Leicester is a “dangerous side”:

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win today because we had a lot of great chances and we could have finished it off, but they are a dangerous team, Jamie Vardy’s goal just shows their quality.

“It was also a good goal from Marcus Rashford and I’m glad he scored. He knows the first chance was glorious [missed chance in the first half]. Losing that is just one of those things.

“Both goals should have been closed faster, the first definitely and the second we should be able to stop the crossing. You always look at the goals conceded, what we should or could have done better.

“Of course we have a game in three days, we have an additional recovery day that we will use wisely. One point is not the worst result, but we are disappointed that we did not get the three points against a difficult team ”.
