The Sundowner: New urban-farm-living room in Siglap
At The Sundowner, an urban farm-lounge atop a Siglap store that opened last month, there’s a sense of raw, DIY fantasy.
To enter, guests must make their way through a shallow pond brimming with aquatic plants, balancing on rocks that sway only a fraction.
Then there’s the rope-and-basket pulley system that owner Clarence Chua devised to transport food deliveries and, in return, bring down packages of sweet and Thai basil from his rooftop garden.

Wartime Food Sustainability Workshop by Edible Garden City and Sentosa
For those who have lived through the war years, crops like sweet potatoes and tapioca can still evoke memories of scarcity and famine.
But now, these tubers could play a small role in realizing Singapore’s food security goals.
That was what the urban agriculture social enterprise Edible Garden City wanted to highlight in its Wartime Food and Sustainability workshop, held in collaboration with Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC).

Farm Day Out at Sprout Hub
Urban farming has taken hold here in recent years, with hobbyists growing herbs along hallways, in community gardens, and soon even on the rooftops of HDB’s parking garages. If you’re not sure where to start, City Sprouts’ bi-monthly Farm Day Out can provide some inspiration.
Hosted by the City Sprouts social enterprise at its Sprout Hub farm on Henderson Road, it is an opportunity for the public to interact with around 35 commercial farmers and hobbyists who rent greenhouse plots.
While the farm welcomes visitors every day, only during the open house will most farmers be there to present their crops and farming methods.
