SINGAPORE: Local telecommunications company Singtel announced on Thursday (December 31) a reorganization of its structure to “capture new digital growth.”

The company said in a press release that the key to this is the creation of a new portfolio under its Group Enterprise division, dedicated to driving the 5G Enterprise business across the region “by leveraging the group’s regional footprint.”

“The move to help companies accelerate their digital transformation comes as companies embrace new business models and compete to go digital in response to COVID-19 and the resulting changes that travel restrictions and roadblocks have had on the broader business landscape, “Singtel said.

NCS WILL OPERATE AS AN AUTONOMOUS BUSINESS UNIT

Singtel’s information and communications technology (ICT) division, NCS, will operate as a stand-alone business unit, reporting directly to the Group’s CEO to accelerate its expansion in Asia Pacific, with special emphasis on Australia and China.

These changes will take effect from January 1, 2021, the telecommunications company said.

“5G is going to be more than a connectivity game for us and this business refocusing will allow us to pursue the digital growth that 5G will drive as a plethora of use cases and business models emerge,” said Singtel Group CEO. . appoint Yuen Kuan Moon.

“With COVID-19 also changing the game for businesses, we see this as an opportune time to restart our business and prioritize areas where we see the greatest growth opportunities by leveraging our extensive presence in Asia.”

Yuen said the increased autonomy would help NCS maximize its potential by expanding its presence beyond Singapore to build a strategic presence in major markets for digital transformation.

This is part of a longer-term plan to make NCS a leading regional business-to-business digital services company, he said.

As of April 1, 2021, Singtel’s International Group, which currently manages Singtel’s portfolio of strategic investments in telecommunications, will come under the office of the Group’s CFO.

“Our regional partners continue to contribute significantly to Singtel’s financial performance as they grow in their respective markets,” said Mr. Yuen.

“Having the office of the Group CFO overseeing the commercial and financial management of the associates allows a comprehensive view of the Group’s overall operational and financial performance, facilitating capital allocation decisions for long-term value creation.”

NEW MANAGEMENT AND APPOINTMENT STRUCTURE

Singtel also announced new appointments to the management committee.

Since January 1, 2021, Ng Kuo Pin, Executive Director of NCS, and Anna Yip, Deputy Executive Director of Consumer
The Singapore division will join Singtel’s management committee.

Effective April 1, 2021, Arthur Lang, who is currently CEO of the International Group, will assume the role of CFO of the group, which will include the management of the international group and regional partners.

The Group’s Strategy and Business Development unit will be combined with the Group’s Digital Life division (GDL) to become the Strategic Portfolio unit led by Samba Natarajan, current CEO of GDL.

In addition to overseeing the group’s digital marketing division, Amobee, and the group’s corporate venture fund Innov8, this portfolio will now include strategic planning and business restructuring. The group’s current CFO Lim Cheng Cheng will become the group’s corporate director.
