SINGAPORE: Singapore Post (SingPost) staff members, including postmen and parcel ambassadors from the Speedpost courier branch, will have new uniforms starting Friday (October 9).

SingPost unveiled the new designs on Thursday, the first for its full set of postal uniforms since 2011. In December, the company unveiled new uniforms for its front-line staff at all 56 post offices and philatelic shops.

The new uniform features the company’s corporate colors, white, red and blue, as a nod to its 163-year history, SingPost said.

“The new look is optimized to be bold, symbolic and unified to present a relevant and modern take on the history of the Singapore postal service, even as SingPost embarks on Singapore’s urban transformation with its Smart Letterbox initiative and enhancing postman job, “he added.

The redesigned uniforms include more than 10 different garments, including shirts, outerwear, aprons and headgear, designed to form six different uniform sets for various job functions.

SingPost consulted postmen about the uniforms, which were designed to be “practical and contemporary, while allowing its postal staff to perform their duties in comfort.”

The uniform is made of polyester, viscose and cotton. It is “breathable, comfortable but robust, making it suitable for delivery jobs in Singapore’s humid climate,” said SingPost.

“A key feature of the uniform is the use of ventilation flaps with interior mesh on the back, to ensure that the postman remains cool and well ventilated throughout the day while doing his work outdoors,” he added.

There are also prominent reflective stripes on the uniforms, as many postmen are constantly on the road.

Postmen will also be given a lightweight windbreaker and wet weather suit consisting of a weather resistant jacket and pants.
