SINGAPORE – A Singaporean couple and the wife of the K-9 unit para-vet who previously tested positive are among four new cases of coronavirus in the community reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) yesterday (January 16) .
In total, 24 new cases were reported, one from the Tuas Sur dormitory and 19 imported.
One of the cases from the community is a 39-year-old man who works for the Singapore Scout Association at 12 Bishan Street, mainly dealing with administrative work in the office. He is also a part-time bus driver with Westpoint Transit, which runs specific routes for Cameron (Singapore) and GlaxoSmithKline Tuas.
His wife, also 39, works as an administrative officer at OCBC Tampines Center One, but does not interact with customers.
Another patient is a 28-year-old woman, wife of the 32-year-old man who works as a para-vet in the Singapore Police. She had previously been identified as his close contact and was quarantined on January 13.
She works as a Correctional Staff Officer in the Singapore Prison Service, but does not interact with inmates. She had been working mainly from home during this period, the Health Ministry noted.
The latest case from the community is that of a 33-year-old Chinese citizen who is the holder of a work permit. He works as a food processing worker at Golden Bridge Foods Manufacturing.
They took a swab, but the test result came back negative on January 8. He returned to work on January 13, but the next day he developed a fever and then tested positive.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has dropped from eight cases in the previous week to six cases in the last week, the Ministry of Health noted.
There were also 19 imported cases, from countries such as India, the United Arab Emirates, France, Japan, Spain and Myanmar.
There are currently 54 confirmed cases that are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none are in the intensive care unit.
