SINGAPORE – There will be less rain in the next two weeks, although the monsoon season will continue until the second half of December.

Short, stormy rains are expected over parts of Singapore in the afternoon most days, the meteorologist said on Tuesday (December 15).

This is due to the strong warming of land areas during the day and the convergence of winds in the surroundings.

Showers can last into the evening on some days. Windy conditions are also expected to accompany the rain, the Singapore Meteorological Service (MSS) said.

But the weather is expected to be less humid compared to the first two weeks of December, he added.

Overall, rainfall for this month is forecast to be below average in most of Singapore.

In the next two weeks, the daily temperature is forecast to range between 24 degrees C and 33 degrees C, the MSS said.

The temperature could rise as high as 34 degrees C on days when there is little or no rain.

In the first half of December, heavy and stormy rains fell over many areas, and Choa Chu Kang recorded the highest daily rainfall on Monday.

The rains fell mainly in the afternoon and lasted into the night for a few days.

The highest daily temperature recorded in the past two weeks was 34.4 degrees C in Paya Lebar on December 8, while the lowest daily temperature was 22.4 degrees C in Sembawang last Friday.
