Singapore Reports 34 New COVID-19 Cases, Including 6 Imported

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 34 new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Tuesday (September 15), including six imported infections.

This brings Singapore’s case count to 57,488.

There are no new cases in the community based on investigations so far, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said in its preliminary daily update. It is the second day in a row with no community cases.

All imported cases had been placed on notice of admission upon arrival in Singapore.

More details will be released later Tuesday night, the ministry added.

More than 3,500 electronic wristband devices have been issued to travelers receiving stay-at-home notices since Aug. 10, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said Saturday.

At Singapore checkpoints, eligible travelers receive an electronic wristband device and an entry device after immigration clearance.

They are required to wear the wristband for the entire stay-at-home notice period and install the gateway device at their place of residence.

ICA has issued a total of 162,668 stay-at-home notices as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 12, of which 14,053 are active, ICA said.

On Monday, the Shake Shack hamburger joint at Liat Towers and a 4Fingers Crispy Chicken store in Terminal 3 of Changi Airport were added to the list of places visited by community cases of COVID-19 during their infectious period, the Ministry of Health said. Health.

Waterway Point and West Mall were also added to the list, along with Anytime Fitness at Queensway Shopping Center, which was listed four times on separate days.

In response to inquiries from CNA, Anytime Fitness declined to confirm on Tuesday whether the COVID-19 case that visited its gym was a customer or an employee.

The company said it is working with authorities on its next steps on safety and cleanliness requirements, adding that all members and staff members who were exposed to COVID-19 cases will be asked to self-quarantine. .
