SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed five new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of Wednesday (October 14), bringing the country’s total cases to 57,889.

There are two new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, both community cases.

The two cases are contacts of a previously confirmed case. Cases 58045, a 13-year-old Singaporean boy, and 58047, a 10-year-old Singaporean girl, had previously been identified as contacts for case 57947. All three cases are family members residing in the same household.

Cases 58045 and 58047 were quarantined as of Oct.3, after case 57947 was confirmed to have the COVID-19 infection, the ministry said.

“Samples were taken on October 3 and both were negative for COVID-19. They subsequently developed symptoms during quarantine and subsequently tested positive on October 13. Both cases are school students, and they had been in their respective schools for the last time on October 2 ”.

There are three imported cases among the new cases.

Among them, one (case 58043) is a 19-year-old Singaporean woman who returned from the UK. Another (case 58044) is a short-term visitor pass holder currently working in Singapore from Russia. The remaining case (Case 58046) is the holder of a student pass that arrived from India. All had been placed on the Home Stay Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore and were evaluated while serving SHN.

Today there are no new cases that reside in bedrooms.

Overall, the ministry said, the number of new cases in the community has dropped from an average of one case per day in the previous week to an average of less than one per day in the past week. The number of unrelated cases in the community has also decreased from an average of less than one case per day in the previous week to none in the last week.

Separately, the Health Ministry added the Hi Five restaurant to a list of public places visited by community cases while they were infectious. The restaurant, located at 6 Dunlop Street, was visited between 8.25am and 8.55am on October 11.

99% of all cases have recovered; none in ICU

With 12 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Wednesday, 57,752 cases, or 99.8 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 39 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while none are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 70 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.

In addition to 28 patients who died from complications of COVID-19, another 15 who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease. . heart disease.
