SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed 14 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of noon on Saturday (October 24), bringing the country’s total cases to 57,965.

Of the new cases, two are in the community, one resides in a bedroom and 11 are imported. Twelve were asymptomatic, while the other two were symptomatic.

The two community cases are working in Terminal 3 of Changi Airport. One is a security officer in T3 who had left for work prior to admission to the hospital. Although both cases work in T3, they had not interacted with each other and epidemiological investigations have so far not established any link between them. As a precautionary measure, all people working in T3 who may have contact with travelers will be screened for COVID-19.

As the volume of travel is expected to increase in the coming months, the Health Ministry has been in talks with the relevant agencies to increase the routine tests listed for front-line personnel working at Changi Airport.

With 12 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Saturday, 57,844 cases, or 99.8 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 53 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while none are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 40 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
