The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has conducted inspections at the Elahe family restaurant at 103 Yishun Ring Road after receiving comments that its employees were not wearing their masks correctly.
A Stomper was ordering food at the stall on November 8 when he noticed that several employees had their masks under their noses and mouths.
“I don’t tend to frequent this stall very often, but this is the first time I’ve seen nearly all of their employees not wearing their masks properly,” Stomper said.
“I didn’t remind them to put on the masks because there were a lot of people and I was waiting for my food.
“I have reported this to the authorities through the OneService app as it is truly inconceivable.”
In response to a query from Stomp, an SFA spokesperson said: “During the Covid-19 period, establishments must implement Safe Management Measures and comply with the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Regulations (Control Order)” .
The SFA added that this includes a mandatory requirement that all people wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth at all times when they are out of their homes, except when eating and drinking.
“We urge all F&B operators to comply with the requirement, as the use of masks is a key measure to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and protect the health of the individual and those around him,” said the spokesperson for the SFA.
“SFA inspected the food establishment and found that safe handling measures were observed, including proper use of masks.
“However, we have reminded the operator to ensure that his workers wear their masks correctly at all times.
“Members of the public who come across a potentially errant food operator should report it to authorities through the OneService app or through our online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback).
“As part of the investigation and evidence gathering, SFA may contract with the comment provider to obtain more details, as well as work with other agencies to review the comments.
“SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant food handlers if sufficient evidence has been obtained.”
