SINGAPORE – A 51-year-old man professed his love for a 10-year-old girl on the social media app TikTok and agreed to meet her after school.
The girl’s father saw the messages and asked his teacher not to allow his daughter to leave school after classes were over.
However, on the day of the incident, the father went looking for his daughter after school, only to find that she had already left.
The man who took her was Singaporean Jambi Arbi, who took her to lunch and a game room. Then he took the girl home, locked the door, and made her do it.
Jambi was sentenced to one year and 11 months in jail on Wednesday (September 9) on one count of sexually abusing a victim under the age of 14, to which he pleaded guilty.
The girl, a primary school student at the time, cannot be named to protect her identity. She is a permanent resident of Singapore.
He professed his love, called her ‘dear’
On February 25 this year, the night before the incident, the girl’s father checked his daughter’s phone and discovered that she was chatting with Jambi on TikTok. She looked at her daughter’s conversation and saw that Jambi had professed his love for her and called her “dear.” He also found out that Jambi asked his daughter to meet him the next day after school.
The father did not ask his daughter about the message because she was already asleep. However, she sent a message to her teacher, asking her to forbid her daughter to leave school after school.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on February 26, the father went to look for his daughter and found her missing. The teachers confirmed that she had left school before he arrived. The father called the police for help in finding the victim.
Her call, at 3.50 pm, said: “My daughter was last seen at school. She said she had school activities, but I called the school and there was no such thing. School ended at 1.30 pm and she was nowhere to be found. “
The father added that one person had said that he would take his daughter shopping for clothes and to McDonald’s.
His daughter had previously agreed to Jambi’s request to meet up, as Jambi promised to take her to a playroom. The girl had brought a casual T-shirt at Jambi’s request.

At approximately 2 p.m., the girl met Jambi at the Yio Chu Kang MRT station, where she changed into his shirt under his instructions.
Jambi then gave the girl a pair of sunglasses and told her to put them on before taking her to Bukit Merah Central McDonald’s on his motorcycle.
He bought food for the two of them before taking the girl to a playroom.
After the couple left the playroom, Jambi took the girl home and the girl used the bathroom. When she came out, she realized that Jambi had closed the door and the gate to the apartment.
Between 3:28 PM and 3:45 PM, while on the floor, Jambi began to touch the girl, apparently to massage her and make her more flexible. He abused her and told her that her underwear was cute.
He touched her genitals claiming that he was helping her gain weight because she was too thin. He also forced his mouth over the girl’s and placed her on his lap where he continued kissing her. The girl felt uncomfortable with the acts.
Terrified, the victim told Jambi that she wanted to go home. As she put on her socks and shoes to go home, Jambi kissed her mouth again. The duo left the apartment around 3.48 p.m. and Jambi dropped the girl outside her school. She came home alone after 4.30pm.
‘Sexual predator’ who was brazen in his actions: DPP
The girl was interviewed by police who responded to her father’s call and revealed that she had befriended Jambi on TikTok in late January this year. She added that she communicated with him frequently, but denied having a relationship with him, even though he had often said he loved her and called her “dear.”
She said Jambi knew her age, but had lied to her that she was 25 years old.
Deputy Prosecutor (DPP) R Arvindren requested at least 22 months in jail for Jambi, whom he described as a “sexual predator” who “preyed on a young, innocent 10-year-old victim for his sexual gratification.”
“He used a social media app to find his victim and finally put his perverted plan into action,” the prosecutor said.
