Its modus operandi has been the same for almost 20 years.

Getting on buses without a destination in mind, he sought out women and girls for whom he preyed.

Vaz Clive Hilary Cheng Kiat, 41, a serial abuser, has a long conviction record since 2002.

Yesterday, he admitted to sexually abusing two other girls and two women, bringing his victim count to at least eight.

In the case of the girls, who were 13 years old, Vaz abused them while on bail after being arrested for sexually abusing the two women.

He has been convicted of two counts of sexually abusing girls, while two other counts of sexually abusing women have been taken into consideration.

In the case of one girl, he abused her even when she was sitting with her family.

On May 25 of last year, the girl boarded a bus with her younger sister and her parents around 8:10 p.m. They sat on the top deck of the bus, with the girl sitting next to her sister and parents in front of them. .

At approximately 8:20 p.m., Vaz boarded the bus and sat behind the girls, even though the upper deck was almost empty.

Then he slid his right hand through the space between the seats and touched the girl’s chest for several seconds.

He only pulled his hand away when she turned and saw him.

Petrified, the girl fell silent and began to bite her nails.

She told her mother what happened only after they got off several stops later.

On August 3 of this year, around 2.20 pm, another 13-year-old girl was on a bus on her way home from school.

He sat upstairs in a window seat and started using his phone.

Vaz was sitting behind her.

At approximately 2.45pm, she felt him tapping and gently grabbing her left waist.

She initially dismissed this thinking it was just the pressure from her purse. But it went on for two minutes, and when he looked down, he saw Vaz’s hand between the recesses of the seats, his fingers on her waist.

Shocked, she turned around and yelled at him. Vaz raised his hands and said he was sorry, then got up to leave.

The girl asked a man sitting across from her for help, but he refused and told her to go with the bus driver.

Through tears, the girl approached the bus driver and Vaz denied her accusation. The driver then stopped the bus and locked the doors, but Vaz escaped when a passenger asked him to get off.

The same passenger chased him for about 50 meters, grabbed his bag and knocked him down.

Vaz fractured his kneecap and was later transferred to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

According to court documents, he also sexually abused a 31-year-old woman on February 11 of last year and a 24-year-old woman on March 9 of last year.

He was arrested on March 12 of last year and charged, but was released on bail less than a month later.

Yesterday, Assistant District Attorney Chong Kee En requested that Vaz be imprisoned for a total of 33 months.

For each count of sexually abusing a girl under the age of 14, you could be jailed for up to five years, or fined, whipped, or given any combination of the three.

Vaz is currently in pre-trial detention and has not been offered bail. His sentence is Friday.
