SINGAPORE – The Seoul Garden store in Tampines Mall, which was visited by the latest Singapore Covid-19 case in the community, has been closed until further notice.
When The Straits Times visited the restaurant at around 10.50am on Friday (November 27), an employee from Seoul Garden was placing a notice that read: “We are closed. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
The worker told ST that it will remain closed until further notice, as the restaurant was preparing for disinfection. It was last open on Thursday.
ST understands that he was waiting for an external company to disinfect the premises, and that an official from the National Environment Agency had spoken with the restaurant staff.
Around noon, two employees from the professional cleaning company Clean Solutions arrived at the exit with a high pressure jet cleaner and containers of cleaning solutions.
After dressing in full protective gear, masks and goggles, they sanitized food counters, windows, tables, and pillars in the restaurant with the high-pressure cleaner. They also cleaned the cashier’s counter and items like credit card terminals. The two Clean Solutions employees left the store after about an hour.
“After disinfection, we will wash the dishes again, wipe the tables, sweep and scrub,” said the restaurant manager.
Some customers arrived just before lunch at the Seoul Garden, but left after seeing the notice.
On Thursday night, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that a Singaporean man, who works as a service engineer, had dinner with 12 members of his family in Seoul Garden last Saturday before he developed a fever and sore throat on Monday. That’s when they tested him for Covid-19.
The Master Systems Marine employee’s job involves going aboard vessels docked at Marina South Pier and West Coast Pier for servicing and maintenance of the ships’ navigation systems.
It became the first locally transmitted Covid-19 case in Singapore in 16 days.
