A 33-year-old security officer was arrested Thursday (December 10) for her alleged involvement in a criminal breach of trust case and for using a found credit card to conduct unauthorized transactions.
Police said in a statement that they received a report from a victim who discovered that unauthorized transactions had taken place with her lost credit card.
Through investigations, officials from the Department of Business Affairs established the identity of the woman believed to have carried out the unauthorized transactions and arrested her.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman who was deployed as a security officer in a building along Joo Koon Circle is believed to have misappropriated the victim’s credit card after a member of the public found the card and He handed it to her at the security desk. “said the police.
“He then allegedly used it to conduct unauthorized transactions of food and household items for more than $ 489. A coat rack, a plastic drawer and some toiletries were confiscated as case displays.”
The woman will be charged in court on Friday (December 11) with fraud and criminal breach of trust.
The crime of cheating carries a prison sentence of up to ten years and a fine. The crime of criminal breach of trust carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years and a fine.
The public is reminded that unauthorized use of someone else’s credit / debit card is a serious crime.
The police also wish to advise the public to take the following crime prevention measures:
- Keep your credit or debit cards safe with you at all times;
- Call your card issuing banks immediately if your credit or debit cards are lost or stolen;
- Choose to have an SMS notification sent to your mobile phone for any charges incurred on your credit or debit card; and
- Review your bank statements regularly and notify the bank immediately in case of discrepancies or unauthorized charges.
