SINGAPORE – Visitors to the Southeast Asia Aquarium (SEA) at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) can now admire and welcome their newest animals: baby sharks, rays and poison arrow frogs that were born while the facility was temporarily closed.

Some of the aquarium’s newborns are included on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Among these are the leopard whip, named for the markings on its body that resemble the fur of a leopard, and the white-tipped reef shark, which has distinctive white tips on its dorsal and upper tail fins.

Starting Tuesday (October 6), the SEA Aquarium opens its expanded “dipping zone”, where its newborn inhabitants are.

The new section will take visitors through three new habitats: from the rainforest to coastal terrain and a coral section.

Visitors will be able to see baby epaulet sharks, named after the two dark spots on their fins, at the Discovery Pool.

Ms. Michelle Choo, Acting Vice President of Attractions at RWS, reaffirmed the aquarium’s commitment to preserving marine life.

“One of our key goals at SEA Aquarium is to educate young people about ocean diversity and inspire them to contribute to ocean conservation,” he said.
