An elderly woman unhappy with cars near her home took matters into her own hands earlier this year, scratching both sides of an Audi with a key.

Yesterday, 76-year-old Ang Guat Beng admitted to her act of mischief and was fined $ 7,500.

He also paid the victim damages of about $ 14,700.

The court heard that at around 6 p.m. on January 26, a couple went to visit friends for Chinese New Year celebrations at a farm in northern Singapore.

They parked their Audi A4 along the road near Ang’s home, but discovered large scratches on both sides of the car around 9 a.m. the next day and made a police report.

EXTENSIVE REPAIRS

Footage from a car parked behind the Audi showed Ang using a wrench to scratch both sides of the car around 8.50pm on January 26.

The car was sent in for extensive repairs and the victim rented an identical car during the repairs period.

In total, Ang’s act caused around $ 14,700 in damages. He initially refused to compensate the victim, but finally paid the full amount on August 3.

Yesterday, Ang told the court that the night of his crime, he found that his garbage can he had placed in the area was moved about five houses away and he thought it was the Audi driver who had done it.

But they told the court there was no indication that it was the driver of the Audi who moved the container.

Ang paid him the fine yesterday.

For shenanigans, she could also have been imprisoned for up to two years.
