Saved files larger than 8MB may be permanently damaged

Those who play Cyberpunk 2077 should be aware that if their save files exceed 8MB, they may become permanently corrupt and unusable.

Redditor MagicTacoSauce posted a public service announcement alerting others to the problem, and GOG.com, which is owned by Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red, offered an answer that isn’t too promising.

“Unfortunately, the save is damaged and cannot be recovered,” the statement said. “Please use a previous save file to continue playing and try to keep a smaller number of items and crafting materials. If you have used the item duplication error, load a save file that is not affected by it. save file size increases in one of the future patches, but corrupted files will stay that way. “

GOG.com says “could increase in future patches” may not be the best news for those who love to collect everything and want to create a ton.

Redditor modsharearebattyboys shared the ways that players can check their current saves, and they are as follows;

  • PC – % user profile% Saved games CD Projekt Red Cyberpunk 2077
  • Playstation 4 – Settings> Application Saved Data Management> DATA SAVED IN SYSTEM STORAGE> Cyberpunk 2077
  • PlayStation 5- Settings> STORAGE> [Storage device] > Saved Data> PS4 Games / PS5 Games> Cyberpunk 2077
  • Xbox One – My Games and Applications> Cyberpunk 2077> Menu> Manage Game> SAVED DATA
  • Xbox Series X | S – My Games and Applications> Cyberpunk 2077> Menu> Manage Games and Add-ons> SAVED DATA

While this may not affect everyone, it is something to watch out for. Although this particular issue was not addressed in the just released Hotfix 1.05, many other bugs and glitches were fixed that should make the experience smoother.
