Well this didn’t take long.
Earlier this week, Apple introduced its new flagship smartphone, the iPhone 12, and with it the company announced its new policy of not shipping a power adapter or wired headphones with its phones. And of course other smartphone makers are now scoffing at the decision.
Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 12, Samsung Caribbean posted an image of a Samsung power adapter on its Facebook page. “Your #Galaxy gives you what you are looking for. From the most basic like a charger, to the best camera, battery, performance, memory and even 120Hz screen on a smartphone,” the post says.
Xiaomi did something similar on Wednesday. In a Twitter post, the company said that “we didn’t leave anything out of the box with the Mi 10T Pro.”
OnePlus, which launched its flagship OnePlus 8T on Wednesday, also noted that a 65 charger is included with the new phone.
It’s an easy dig at Apple. Even though the company says it removed these accessories from the box for environmental reasons, the fact remains that it cuts costs for Apple and provides less value for a portion of iPhone buyers (those who don’t have a replacement power adapter. or headphones. around).
However, it is likely only a matter of time before some of these companies pull out and do the same. A report from July 2020 said that Samsung was already considering doing this, starting in 2021. It hasn’t officially happened yet. But since Samsung mocked Apple for dropping the headphone jack from its iPhones, and then did the same, we wouldn’t be too surprised if it happened again.
