Just a week after its opening to the public, a dinosaur on Changi Jurassic Mile has become the victim of some overzealous visitors.
A young girl had climbed onto a hatchling emerging from its egg and was seen happily rocking the exhibit and posing for the camera.
After his antics were shared on TikTok and then posted on Facebook on Thursday (October 15), netizens called out the visitor for his inconsiderate behavior.
Several of them asked if visitors are allowed to ride dinosaurs, while others lamented “That’s why we can’t have nice things.”
Sharp-eyed netizens also noticed that the dinosaur in the clip had lost some of its teeth and suggested imposing fines on those caught smashing open-air displays.
However, it is unclear if the woman in the video is related to the reptile’s missing teeth.
The 3.5 km long attraction, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, connects Changi Airport and East Coast Park, and features the 1 km long Jurassic Mile.
With more than 20 dinosaurs large and small for company, visitors can walk or bike the trail. Since its launch on October 11, the family-friendly attraction has drawn crowds.
And while they provide excellent photo opportunities for the ‘gram, getting too close to dinosaurs like the woman in the Tiktok video is a big no-no.
This netizen probably summed up feelings online with this joke.
In response to AsiaOne’s inquiries, a spokesperson for the Changi Airport Group said that one exhibit has suffered some damage and will be temporarily removed for repair work.
They also reminded visitors to treat the exhibits with care, as they are set up for everyone to share and enjoy.
“We will add warning signs along the Changi Jurassic Mile to remind visitors not to ride the exhibits. There are also surveillance cameras to monitor movements along the way.”
