Report reveals FIFA compensation fee Liverpool will receive for Joe Gomez

Liverpool will reportedly receive £ 2 million in compensation from FIFA following Joe Gomez’s injury while on international duty.

Having lost Virgil van Dijk during the season, the Reds suffered another blow when Gomez came down in England training.

The center-back suffered a serious injury to the tendon in his left knee and will be lucky to return this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are also missing converted center-backs Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold, though those problems are less serious.

The only senior center back on his books is now Joel Matip, but he has had his own injury problems in the past.

That probably means Klopp will have to lean heavily on young Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips until January.

The winter window is sure to bring a new addition, with various names tied to an Anfield switch. Those names include a surprise hit for a Tottenham star.

But the Merseyside team will at least get paid for Gomez’s injuries.

The report in the Daily mail claims FIFA has told the FA that it will cover Gomez’s £ 80,000 weekly salary while he’s gone, meaning Liverpool will receive around £ 2 million.

The England internationals are part of the FIFA club protection program. That means that injuries sustained in international duty are protected with compensation.

Gómez breaks the silence on serious injury

Joe Gomez has broken his silence to send Liverpool and his supporters a positive message following knee surgery that is likely to end his season.

“The road to recovery has already begun,” Gómez wrote in Twitter. “I’ve been here before, I know what it takes and I’ll come back better and stronger than ever.
