Liverpool insiders feel there is “no question” that Sevilla defender Diego Carlos would cover Virgil van Dijk’s absence.
Van Dijk is in a rush to play again this season after injuring the anterior cruciate ligament on Saturday.
However, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will not face any retrospective action for his collision with the 29-year-old.
The injured blow has left an alarming gap in Jurgen Kloppdefending. In fact, the last time Klopp failed to field Van Dijk in a Premier League four was in January 2018.
As such, experts such as Jamie Carragher have stated that Liverpool need to make up for their absence with a new signing.

The Reds reportedly want to sign Brazilian defender Carlos, who has played a lot for Sevilla lately.

Liverpool injury concerns mount

The Cameroonian central defender underwent a scan on Saturday for a sore leg muscle, described as a “precaution.”
And although the scan revealed no major problems for the central defender, his club will be wary of his role in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Ajax.
