On the first night of her concert in Taipei on Friday (November 6), Mandopop singer Rainie Yang fell from a high stage.

She escaped with minor injuries to her hands and legs, but her husband, Chinese singer-songwriter Li Ronghao, was clearly concerned.

Yang, 36, told the audience during a break between performances that he fell at the beginning of the concert, after the lights went out when he finished performing his new song Bad Lady.

She said: “It is the first accident of my life in 20 years”. The Taiwanese singer thanked a staff member who took her in his arms as she fell.

Li, who was unable to attend the concert, posted a video sent to him by a friend on Weibo.

He wrote Friday night: “I honestly thought she was crazy several times during her preparation for this concert. I even scold her a few times. She was practicing her dance moves so much that her joints were swollen and she didn’t want to do it. She couldn’t take medication either This morning I couldn’t even raise my arms.

“When I found out that she had fallen, I was worried but also a little angry. Don’t worry, luckily someone caught her and it’s just external injuries.”

Despite his concern, Li praised his wife’s concert as “amazing.”

To appease her husband, Yang replied to her post, “Husband, don’t worry. Everyone, don’t worry. I’m fine, thanks to the protection of my staff members. I’ll take care of myself tomorrow and the day after that.”

On Saturday, the second of three nights at the Taipei Arena, he dedicated the song Anonymous Friend (2010) to his high school girlfriend, the late Taiwanese host and singer Alien Huang, who died suddenly of an aortic dissection in September. Although they separated when they were teenagers, the two remained close friends and Yang considered him family.

Huang’s manager was in the audience on Saturday night with a toy to symbolize Huang’s attendance.

Before his death, Huang had asked Yang to save tickets for his show on Saturday (November 7).
