English legend Alan Shearer is not convinced that Arsenal have what it takes to stay in the Premier League with the way they are playing.
The Gunners went seven top flight games without winning after losing 2-1 to Everton on Saturday. An own goal from Rob Holding plus a header from Yerry Mina was enough to give the Toffees all three points.
Nicolas Pepe’s Grief was all that North Londoners had to show for their effort. They succumbed to an eighth league defeat of the season and fourth in five games.
The pressure on boss Mikel Arteta increases, with his team in 15th place and just four points above the drop zone. There are clearly problems in the Emirates and the Spanish job seems to be in jeopardy.

“I wouldn’t be so sure. Not with that starting team and the attitude of some of those players, ”Shearer said. “Horrible, without creativity, the players making movements, without working hard enough and without closing.
“Mikel Arteta should be a concerned man trusting that group of players trying to save his job,” he added. “Twelve goals in the whole season, they have no options.
“Against Everton, Pepe was not prepared to get into the box, he was jogging, sometimes walking. You have to do more.
“There are some players on that team who are not giving everything for the coach. Arsenal are never going to score goals playing like this ”.
Arteta urges more fight
Shearer seemed to point a finger at Pepe and showed several examples of his lack of urgency. The Frenchman was unable to get into the area even as Arsenal’s men threw decent crosses.
The 25-year-old has scored just seven Premier League goals in 41 appearances for the club. That’s in stark contrast to his time with Lille, where he found the net 35 times in 74 starts.
Arsenal expected a similar comeback but it has not happened and doubts remain about their attitude. Arteta did not single out anyone for criticism, but admitted that they lack a creative spark.
“We need to generate more to win soccer games,” he said. “When it comes to small details, the other team wants it more. The boys are still fighting.
“The way the guys reacted in the locker room tells me they have faith. When you lose a lot of games for different reasons, it hurts a lot. “
