Graham Potter has insisted that Brighton has received “no rapprochement” for Liverpool and Arsenal-linked midfielder Yves Bissouma.
Reports from early December stated that Premier League giants are interested in former Lille player.
The Mali international has started 14 of Brighton’s 15 Premier League games this term. In fact, he has only failed to complete 90 minutes on two occasions.
Also, Bissouma’s agent has spoken to confirm that Liverpool, champions, have shown interest.
However, according to Brighon’s manager Potter, the Seagulls have not come up with firm offers for the 24-year-old.
“There have been no approaches,” he said (via objective). “As I said before, just because it’s in the media doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.
“My focus is on Yves and how I can help him improve and I think he still has some improvements to make.
That’s my approach with him, trying to help him reach his full potential. He still has work to do, so that’s what we’re focusing on. “
Potter He added that he is not interested in reading the transfer speculation surrounding Bissouma.
However, he did explain why the midfielder has an “exciting” future with much to learn.
Potter salutes the exciting future of Bissouma
“I don’t read the newspapers and I don’t really take what is reported in a newspaper for a fact,” Potter said.
“At this time of year all kinds of things are published that are sometimes true, sometimes false, but it doesn’t help me in any way if I hear the noise.
“Yves has taken some steps and has improved, but he also has some improvements to make, which is exciting and is where the work is, so we’ll focus on that.
“He has had to learn some aspects of the game and improve in certain areas, but it is a credit to him that he has done it to help us in those areas. I think he can still improve, so that’s good. “
Bissouma has contributed three goals and one assist in 70 appearances since signing for Brighton.
Fabinho explains the desire for a second title
Meanwhile, one of Liverpool’s current midfielders has explained why a second Premier League title win will be better than the first.
Fabinho played a key role last season when his club ended a 30-year wait for top flight glory.
Meanwhile, this term, Jurgen Klopp’s men again sat on top at Christmas and are aiming for greater glory.
