SINGAPORE – Singapore defeated three other contenders, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen, to claim the title of best seaport in Asia for the 32nd time.
The Port of Singapore won the “Best Seaport in Asia” award at the 2020 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (Aflas) Awards held in Hong Kong on Monday (November 9), the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) said. ) on Tuesday (November 10).
“This is a testament to the efficiency and continued leadership of the Port of Singapore in driving maritime innovation,” said MPA.
The Aflas Awards are organized by the Asia Cargo News publication to recognize organizations that demonstrate leadership and consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability.
The winners emerged from the votes cast by the publication’s readers.
“As a global hub port, the Port of Singapore continues to play a key role in maintaining global supply chains, especially as the global economy begins to reopen,” said MPA CEO Quah Ley Hoon.
“While we are honored by this statement and thank the industry for their support, we will continue to strive to maintain high standards of service and drive initiatives that enable a low-carbon future for the maritime community,” he added.
