SINGAPORE: Police found an unlicensed public entertainment outlet operating out of a factory unit in a recent crime-busting operation, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a press release on Tuesday (December 29).

There were 36 clients in the middle, said to have had what authorities described as a “private celebration.”

The operation, which ran from December 15 to 26, targeted criminal activity across the island, including hotspots for congregations like Clarke Quay, Orchard Road and Boat Quay.

A total of 67 people were arrested, 46 men and 21 women between the ages of 27 and 85, for their alleged participation in a series of illegal activities.

These included activities related to vice, illegal gambling, membership in illegal societies, and offenses under the Drug Abuse Act and the Employment of Foreign Labor Act.

Investigations are ongoing.

The police also conducted compliance checks at public entertainment establishments and massage establishments.

Five massage establishments were found to be operating without a valid license, SPF said.

“An unlicensed public entertainment establishment was also found to be operating out of a factory unit with 36 customers, ages seven to 66, having a private celebration.

“The police are investigating the two organizers, aged 50 and 58, for offering public entertainment without a valid license.

“The 36 users will also be investigated for failure to comply with the safe distancing measures under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulation of 2020.”

Police said they will continue to crack down on criminal activities during the year-end festive period.
