SINGAPORE: Police launched a murder investigation after the death of a 38-year-old man who was found wounded in the Punggol camp.
In response to CNA questions, police said Monday (May 11) that they received an assistance call throughout Punggol Field around 11 p.m. Sunday.
The man was taken to Sengkang General Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
When CNA visited the scene on Monday afternoon, the pathway where the incident occurred was cordoned off and vehicles heading towards the area were forced to return.
At least four police vehicles were seen arriving at the crime scene.
The images posted online showed police activity in the area on Sunday night.
A Facebook user who claimed he was helping with police investigations described “blood everywhere” near a bus stop when he went to see someone’s cry for help.
Posting on Facebook, Pasir Ris-Punggol Parliament member Sun Xueling expressed his condolences to the victim’s loved ones.
“I spoke to (the police) this morning. (They are) reviewing the nearby camera images. We also appeal to the public if they have been in the vicinity at the time and have useful information,” Sun said.
He added that he had asked police to step up patrols in the area to address residents’ concerns about security.
