Mr. Karl Liew was investigated following the publication of a High Court ruling on September 4, which found that he had been dishonest in presenting evidence against his former family maid, Ms. Parti Liyani, in a robbery trial. .

The High Court judge found Mr. Karl Liew’s statements in court suspicious, including his claims that he had worn women’s clothing.

Mr. Karl Liew had also testified that his family members gave him a Gucci wallet, a Braun Buffel wallet and a Helix watch. However, none of his family members, including Mr. Liew Mun Leong, could remember having or giving him these specific items.

In light of the Superior Court’s comments, the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) ordered the police to carry out further investigations, which have since been completed, police said.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Law, K. Shanmugam, told Parliament in a ministerial statement that the AGC, starting from this case, will seriously consider investigating the allegations of perjury or other serious crimes in case such findings arise in judgments or decisions issued by a court. in legal proceedings.
