SINGAPORE – The part-time Grab driver who was the only community case of Covid-19 on Monday has been temporarily suspended from the Grab platform, in accordance with the transport operator’s safety precautionary measures.
Grab said in a statement on Tuesday (December 29) that he is working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide all necessary information on the man, who also works as a member of the Singapore Airlines cabin crew, for the purposes of contact tracing.
He added that to ensure higher safety and hygiene standards, all of his drivers have access to free disinfectant and sanitizer at the Grab Driver Center.
After each trip, Grab drivers and passengers have the option to provide feedback or report any health and hygiene concerns.
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old Singaporean who returned from Indonesia was one of 13 coronavirus cases announced on Tuesday, bringing Singapore’s total to 58,542.
All coronavirus cases announced on Tuesday were imported and comprised one Singaporean, two permanent residents, nine work permit holders and one short-term visitor pass holder.
A 71-year-old permanent resident returned from the United States. The other cases returned from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
All imported cases had been sent home or isolated upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.
There were no new community cases and none of the workers’ bedrooms on Tuesday.
No new places were added to the list of places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were infectious.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with only one case currently unlinked in the last week.
With 14 cases discharged on Tuesday, 58,385 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 37 patients remain in the hospital, while 76 recover in community facilities. None are in intensive care.
Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
