Singapore – Some people have started selling grocery vouchers they recently received from the government online at a discount.

On Carousell’s online marketplace, vouchers worth S $ 150 sell on average for S $ 140.

It seems that most of the people who have seen the deals online would have preferred the cash coupons over the grocery coupons.

All Singaporeans 21 and over, living in HDB 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and owning no more than one property, will receive S $ 300 in grocery vouchers in 2020 (S $ 150 in October and S $ 150 in December) and S $ 100 in grocery vouchers in 2021.

Grocery coupons can be used at participating supermarkets. FairPrice, Giant, Prime Supermarket and Sheng Siong Supermarket accept these vouchers.

The coupons, which Singaporeans started receiving earlier this month, could be sold online in a few days.

On the Carousell listings, a person was selling S $ 140 worth of coupons for S $ 135.

One wrote: “FIXED PRICE. I only deal in cash, no exchanges. “

In the item description, another seller wrote: “I don’t negotiate or don’t negotiate as I need cash.”

When Carousell’s listings went online, those who saw them sympathized with the sellers.
