Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he is “concerned” about Manchester United’s goal drought.

Misfiring United left another blank, their third straight goalless draw and now it’s been nearly five hours without a goal after a lousy draw at Selhurst Park.

It leaves United 14 points behind leaders Manchester City before this Sunday’s derby at the Etihad.

United manager Solskjaer said: “Of course it is a concern.

“When you have three clean sheets in a row, that will help you win games, but we haven’t produced the quality.

“We just have to find a spark again, quality again and try to win the games.

“Of course we are not happy if you do not create chances, do not score goals and it has been a goalless week.

“It’s a bit worrisome, of course it is, but I know the guys have given it their all. With their quality, I know we can get back to where we want to be.”

Solskjaer’s men looked tired and tired and the coach admitted that his number one concern now is finishing in the top four before the derby as he was unhappy with other elements of his team’s display.

“We go into every game thinking we need to win and we want to win,” Solskjaer said. “We just have to focus on ourselves. We know we are in a fight to be in the top four, so every game is important.

“It’s not good, as you know, if you want to go up in the table, you need to win. You have to earn the right, you have to win tackles, you have to fight, you have to play better passes, we keep giving the ball away.

“The tempo was lacking, every now and then it happens. It wasn’t one of our best nights, that’s for sure.”

Solskjaer also admitted that he is reluctant to release Bruno Fernandes for Portugal’s World Cup qualifiers later this month with the country on the red list of coronavirus nations.

Solskjaer added: “We haven’t made a decision about Bruno, but it doesn’t make sense if we are paying the player’s salary.

“I want Bruno ready after that break, of course he is.”

Palace boss Roy Hodgson said: “When you get a result against United, even if it is a draw rather than a win, it should be cause for celebration and I am very proud of the players.

“It was a good performance, they fought hard, we too had opportunities.

“We have some tough games ahead of us, but people must not forget that we are one of those teams in this division who, at the end of the season, are still very happy to be in the Premier League.”
