Oil and blood dripping: Sembawang resident asked to drop raw pork on common hall railing, Singapore News

A month after a HDB resident raised a scandal about his neighbor’s attempt to obtain homemade cured pork in Jurong West, another resident has done it again.

This time, it happened in Sembawang.

A piece of raw pork sat on the common hall railing outside a man’s apartment for days, a woman said in a Facebook post yesterday (Nov. 15).

“When my elderly parents have to put up with their neighbor who is unhygienic and inconsiderate,” she wrote while sharing photos of the incident.

When allowed to dry in the sun, oil and blood allegedly dripped onto the unit below.

It was not his only complaint.

In another photo, a row of potted plants was seen sitting in the common hallway, which she said got in the way of others using the catwalk.

The sighting was reported to the city council and the meat has since been removed from the handrail.

AsiaOne has reached out to the Sembawang City Council for comment.

Some HDB residents have started hanging raw pork on clotheslines to dry their floors lately, with neighbors complaining about the stench in Yishun, Woodlands and Jurong West this year alone.

They also expressed concern about hygiene. In addition to bacterial growth, birds and insects were also seen feeding on raw meat that was left to air-dry outside a flat on Beach Road in 2018.

Resident left raw pork outside for crow

Rather than bask in the sun for his own consumption, the resident said he had left the raw pork meat outside for a crow to eat after seeing it in a nearby tree.

“I saw others feeding the bird in the cafeteria, so I tried to do the same, but the crow was not feeding on it,” the 52-year-old told Shin Min Daily News.

He added that he has rescued several animals in the past and recently brought a sick bird home to care for and retrieve it.
