WASHINGTON: Former US President Barack Obama praised the “historic and decisive victory” of fellow Democrat Joe Biden on Saturday (November 7) in the US elections, calling on Americans to overcome bitter divisions and “find common ground. “
“Once each vote is counted, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect (Kamala) Harris will have won a historic and decisive victory,” Obama, Donald Trump’s predecessor in the White House, said in a statement.

Obama acknowledged that Biden, 77, “will face a series of extraordinary challenges that no incoming president has ever faced: a raging pandemic, an uneven economy and justice system, a democracy at risk and a climate in danger.”
“I know you will get the job done with the best interests of all Americans in mind, whether or not I have your vote.
“Election results at all levels show that the country remains deeply and bitterly divided. It will be up to not just Joe and Kamala, but each of us, to do our part: to go beyond our comfort zone, to listen to others. ., to lower the temperature and find common ground from which to advance. “
