No visitor parking? Netizens argue over a banner in a multi-story public car park, Singapore News

If there’s one thing that is every driver’s nightmare, it’s finding a place to park.

So when a netizen took to Facebook yesterday (Oct 29) to share a photo of a banner requesting visitors to “refrain from parking” at an HDB parking lot in Jalan Kayu, things understandably heated up.

Taking the banner as an affront, the angry netizen wrote in his post: “Make your grandpa buy all the parking!”

Visitor parking options are already limited, as certain lots are reserved for seasonal parking holders, he continued.

The banner, bearing the Residents Committee logo, appeared to be located at the entrance to the multi-story car park.

It read: “Dear Visitors, Residents here seek your kind understanding and cooperation to refrain from parking in this multi-story parking lot from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am Thank you.”

In HDB parking lots, red lots are reserved for seasonal parking holders throughout the day, while red and white lots are generally reserved for seasonal parking between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Visitors can only wear red and white lots between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. They can also park in white lots during parking hours.

The banner quickly drew the ire of many, who called residents of the area “selfish” for trying to restrict the use of a public parking lot.

Some also pointed out that the RC request was pointless as the car park is managed by HDB.
