Robinsons customers who bought Sealy mattresses before the department store liquidation can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Sealy will honor orders placed by “hundreds” of customers who have paid Robinsons in full, it announced today in a Facebook post (Nov. 4).

This is despite Robinsons not paying them for the supply or delivery of the products, the mattress brand added.

Customers who have paid in full only need to top-up $ 50 for their shipping fee and will be contacted shortly regarding delivery arrangements.

As for customers who have made deposits or partial payments, Sealy will also contact them to take further steps to fulfill their orders, he said.

Robinsons had announced on October 30 that it would close its last two outlets at The Heeren Mall and Raffles City for good.

The decision took many customers who had bought mattresses in department stores by surprise.

Some were told that their deliveries were suspended, while others complained about a lack of updates from Robinson-appointed liquidators, KordaMentha.

Between October 30 and November 2, 18 complaints were filed with the Singapore Consumers Association (Case), all of them Robinsons customers seeking reimbursement for mattresses that were paid for but not delivered, Loy York Jiun told Today , CEO of Case.

The contract value of the mattresses ranges from $ 2,299 to $ 6,149, he said.

KordaMentha will meet with the mattress suppliers to resolve the situation and “cannot provide any updates or additional action on deliveries, refunds or exchanges” until then, it told AsiaOne on November 1.

Meanwhile, Simmons, another mattress supplier, called for customers’ patience and understanding in a statement on October 31, explaining that it would settle the matter with KordaMentha.
