This year’s New Year’s Eve will be different, as expected. Due to the current coronavirus situation, the usual large crowds that gather outside to watch the fireworks can no longer keep the public safe.
But despite these new rules and regulations, Singapore’s night skyline will not be completely devoid of flashing lights by the New Year.
Even if you’ve already booked your special New Year’s Eve dinner with the family, you can still end the evening with more festivities by watching the fireworks from a safe distance or watching the new light shows at Marina Bay.
To minimize crowds and keep everyone safe, there will be no fireworks display at Marina Bay this year. But don’t worry, you’ll still be able to see dazzling New Year’s Eve fireworks in different regions of the heart of Singapore.

For the first time, fireworks can also be viewed virtually through community end-of-the-year countdown programs that were hosted by the People’s Association (PA). This will allow residents to continue to enjoy the festivities in a “safe way” and also in the comfort of their homes.
The fireworks will also be broadcast live and included in some of the 16 virtual engagements PA has hosted for the New Year, where the public can participate in games and watch live performances, as stated in a press release on 23 from December.

If you can’t see the fireworks in person, you can tune in to Channel 5 or Mediacorp’s New Years Eve live stream with exciting performances from your favorite artists including Rriley, ShiGGa Shay, Shye, Tabitha Nauser, Jason Derulo, Jeremy. Zucker and more!

Shine a light on Marina Bay

Another way to celebrate the New Year is by viewing their Shine A Light exhibit at The Promontory, which has been lit since the beginning of December and will continue to light up Singapore’s nighttime skyline until New Year’s Eve.
This 3 minute light animation lights up the bay every 15 minutes with over 60 beams of light moving in a circular formation to signify a bright new beginning for the next year.
The light show continues daily from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and will continue to play until 11:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. .
Share the Moment light display
There is a second display of lights in Marina Bay to celebrate the New Year called Share The Moment. This light show will be presented as a storytelling showcase inspired by stories from the City of Good.
It will feature artwork by local school students lighting up Marina Bay. The light screen will project The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, ArtScience Museum and Merlion map.
Share The Moment will light up Marina Bay beginning December 25 through New Years Eve, so be sure to check out the exhibit and be cheered on by the dazzling lights as you enter 2021.
