SINGAPORE: As of October 1, those who are unemployed and applying for the COVID-19 Support Scholarship must show that they have tried to find a job or start training programs.

Also, they must not own more than one property.

These are the new eligibility criteria announced on Tuesday (September 22) by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

They will apply to both first-time applicants and those who want a three-month extension of the aid measure.

The grant was introduced in May to assist Singaporeans and permanent residents who are unemployed, on involuntary leave without pay, or who have suffered a significant loss of income as a result of the economic impact of COVID-19.

Provides up to S $ 800 per month for three months to selected applicants.

Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat announced last month that the plan will run until December 31. Applications for another round of support will open online on October 1.

First-time applicants who meet the current eligibility criteria can continue to apply for the grant until 6pm on September 31, MSF said.
