New contender enters January’s four-team mix for resurgent Man Utd star

Sam Allardyce’s West Brom are the latest Premier League side to hope to secure a loan in January for a resurgent Manchester United striker.

Despite vocal criticism, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has guided Man Utd to a strong national campaign so far.

Advancement to the EFL Cup semifinals was achieved last week. While they have clinched six wins in their last eight league games, including a memorable 6-2 loss to rivals Leeds Utd last week.

One player who played a leading role in that victory was the Welsh winger. Daniel James.

The 23-year-old wreaked havoc down the flank with his pace and vitality, finishing off his display with a hit in the second half.

It was a stark contrast to his campaign to that date, with severely limited playing time in the early stages of the season.

Another solid performance against Leicester highlighted his value to the Man Utd team, but the latest report from the Daily star suggests a January outing might still be in the cards.

The outlet reports that West Brom “has entered the race” to get the sprinter on loan.

His interest is matched by his fellow top flight classmates Leeds Utd, Burnley and Brighton.

Solskjaer has reportedly “not yet decided” whether he will need James’ services in the second half of the season.

Man Utd ace in front of the ax?

Meanwhile, Manchester United striker Anthony Martial walks the tightrope of the dangerous team with his performances this season, according to one expert.

The French showed fantastic form towards the end of last season. In fact, he scored six goals and placed another four in the nine games after the coronavirus lockdown.

As such, he seemed to have ignored long-standing criticism about his consistency at Old Trafford. While the forward had previously displayed flashes of his talent, he had struggled to perform regularly.

However, despite his hot streak in the last period, Martial has once again not shown consistency. The 25-year-old has only scored one goal in the top flight in 10 games. In addition, he has missed three Premier League games due to suspension.

Talking to talkSPORT, Trevor Sinclair insisted that Martial could face the manager’s ax Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if your form doesn’t improve.
