SINGAPORE: Here’s another one to add to your day trip list: 22 “life-size” dinosaur models along the Changi Airport Connector, a new 3.5 km road linking the airport to the East Coast Park.

The bike and pedestrian path, which begins at Terminal 2, opened on Sunday (October 11). It operates in parallel with the offices that provide ground handling services, Terminal 4 and Tanah Merah Country Club.

Changi’s Jurassic Mile, a permanent outdoor exhibit of 22 dinosaurs of nine species, sits between the Terminal 4 pit stop and the entrance to East Coast Park.

Information boards have been put up to educate visitors about these prehistoric animals along the 1km trail, and speakers playing safari-themed music add to the experience.

The park connector will allow people who work at the airport to cycle to their office, as well as providing “a new way to get into cities” when travel is reopened, said Jayson Goh, managing director of airport operations. from Changi Airport Group.

“We hope this entire project will help inject new energy into the Changi Airport experience and continue to strengthen Singapore’s offering as an air hub,” he added.

The opening of the connector was delayed “a couple of months” due to the pandemic.

“We don’t want people to worry about coming to this place while COVID is still active,” Goh said.

Between October 16 and January 3, visitors will need to reserve a space on Changi PlayPass to visit Jurassic Mile on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 9 a.m. and midnight due to safe distancing concerns. Capacity has been limited to “a few hundred,” said a Changi Airport Group spokesman.

Visitors will be admitted every 30 minutes and allowed to stay inside the exhibit for up to one hour. Reservations are not required for weekday visits.

Adjacent to Terminal 2 is a place called Hub & Spoke, which has a colonial-themed cafe, a bike shop run by GoCycling, and pay-per-use showers.

Hub & Spoke also offers cyclists free bike parking (80 racks are available) and bike lockers for S $ 5 per day, up to 10 days at a time.

Koh Zhen Hao, head of GoCycling’s rental team, said his company plans to offer tourists guided bike tours to East Coast Park and the city once leisure travel resumes.
