José Mourinho was beaming about his team’s depth after Tottenham’s win over LASK in the Europa League.

Tottenham got off to a winning start in the Europa League group stage, having already won three games to qualify for the main tournament.

New signing Carlos Vinicius received two assists and the Spurs beat LASK with a 3-0 win. Vinicius was one of nine changes Mourinho made for the match, and the manager was happy that his rotation had the desired effect.

Mourinho said BT sport: “I am happy for the squad. We changed many players … others have worked very hard.

“Normally I wouldn’t do it in the first game of the phase when we play at home, but I trust the guys and it was good.

“The performance was solid and confident. We could have scored more goals, but it’s not a knockout match. Only three points.

“If we had fans in the stadium it would have been more. They provide a little extra energy.

“In the end it was an opportunity for the players to play and gain confidence.

“I’m sorry for the substitutes, they all want to play.

“Last season we had a lot of problems with no attacking force and no wing or attackers in some parts of the season. I look next to me now and I have so many options. “

Bale describes an ‘incredible’ feeling

One of the players Mourinho brought into action was Gareth Bale, who made his first start since returning to the club.

Bale also spoke to the media after the game and admitted that it feels “amazing” to be back at Tottenham.

He said, “I’m a little stiff. It’s like a mini preseason for me and I’m trying to put minutes in my legs.

“Hopefully it doesn’t take me long to get back to full speed and I’m enjoying being on the field and being back at this incredible club.”
