SINGAPORE – In its biggest heroin bust in 19 years, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized 14.1 kg of the drug in an operation that also saw officers drag out a significant cache of other drugs.
In 2001, CNB recovered 14.9 kg of the drug.
Around 2.8 kg of crystalline methamphetamine, also known as ice, 7.5 kg of cannabis, 323 g of ecstasy fragments, 28 ecstasy tablets, 1,008 tablets were seized in the drug bust on Wednesday (November 11) from Erimin-5 and cash worth $ 12,629 at various locations. .
The total amount seized is estimated to be around $ 2 million.
Three men and two women, between 29 and 55 years old, were arrested for their alleged participation.
Speaking to the media at CNB headquarters on Friday, Superintendent Aaron Tang, director of the CNB intelligence division, said: “Even with movement restrictions due to the Covid-19 situation, the Drug traffickers are still making big bets and exploiting the situation in order to profit from addiction and misery. “
The action began Wednesday afternoon after CNB agents intercepted a vehicle near Siglap Road and arrested two men, ages 55 and 50, and a 52-year-old woman. All three are Singaporean.
In his vehicle, officers found three packages containing approximately 1.45 kg of heroin in total.
Drug hunters also found 3 g of heroin and 2 g of ice in the 50-year-old man.
About 7 g of ice and 20 ecstasy tablets were in the woman.
