Millenia Walk, multiple shopping malls in Jurong among places visited by COVID-19 cases during infectious period

SINGAPORE: Millenia Walk and several shopping malls in Jurong were added on Tuesday (March 23) to a list of places visited by COVID-19 cases during their infectious period, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

Malls include JEM, Jurong Point, JCube Mall, and Westgate.

Yuhua Village Market and Food Center was also visited on multiple occasions.

Those identified as close contacts of confirmed cases have already been notified by the Ministry of Health.

As a precautionary measure, people who were in these places during the specified hours should monitor their health closely for 14 days from the date of their visit.

“They should see a doctor immediately if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history,” said the ministry.

There is no need to avoid places where COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, the Health Ministry added.

“The National Environment Agency will involve the management of the affected facilities to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection,” the ministry said.

A Singaporean woman who returned to Singapore from Austria three weeks ago was among 13 imported cases reported on Tuesday. The 40-year-old man, known as Case 61118, had been residing in Austria since August 2019.

He returned to Singapore on March 2 of this year and complied with the notice to stay home in an exclusive facility until March 16. negative for COVID-19.

However, he tested positive on March 22, after he underwent a COVID-19 test prior to departure on March 20 in preparation for a trip to Indonesia.

As of Tuesday, Singapore has reported a total of60,221 COVID-19 cases.
