Singapore – The Ministry of National Development (MND) is investigating Mediacorp artists for possible violations of safe distancing measures after a photo celebrating actor Jeffrey Xu’s birthday shows celebrities without a mask and exceeding the limit of five people for a meeting.
According to a straitstimes.com In Wednesday’s report (December 23), the MND was alerted to the incident involving a group gathering at a residence to celebrate Mr. Xu’s birthday. “Investigations are ongoing with respect to possible infractions by the different parties,” said a representative of the MND who did not identify those involved.
“The MND and other government agencies take a serious view of such violations and will not hesitate to take strong action against those found to have violated safe distancing measures.”
Since becoming prominent on social media, Mediacorp celebrities Shane Pow, Terence Cao, and Xu have apologized via the broadcaster on Wednesday.

In one of the photos uploaded to Instagram on October 3, a total of 13 people were standing close to each other while Mr. Xu held a cake. Nobody wore a mask.
Other celebrities identified in the photo are Jeremy Chan and Julie Tan, who are not managed by Mediacorp.
Under current Covid-19 regulations, social gatherings are limited to groups of five outside of a residence and homes. The limit will be increased as of December 28 to eight people outside the home and as visitors in a home.
A reader had informed the Chinese-language publication Shin Min Daily News (SMDN) on Wednesday of the possible breaches of security measures.
It was later identified that a fourth artist, 987FM deejay Sonia Chew was also in the photo. Mediacorp had confirmed with SMDN that their four artists were at the meeting.
