Man who posted photos of himself smelling panties on Instagram fined

SINGAPORE – A man who uploaded posts on social media of himself sniffing out stolen women’s underwear and other dirty clothes was fined $ 2,400 on Friday (September 18).

Lim Wei Ming, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of causing public nuisance and one count of possession of four obscene video files. Two other charges of causing public nuisance were taken into consideration for his sentencing.

These include Lim uploading a post that contains four pictures of him posing and smelling pink women’s underwear with the caption “Public sniffing panties,” and another post that uploaded two photos of a pink women’s underwear, with a caption. “Block 356 Calle Tampines 33”.

On another occasion last year, after stumbling across some black shorts on a coat rack, he masturbated and ejaculated in the shorts. On August 14 last year, she posted a photo of herself on her Instagram account with the caption: “Public Pcc in Black Shorts.” The letters “pcc” refer to the sexual act in Hokkien.

Lim’s Instagram account could be seen by the public at the time and caused a total of 38 police complaints to be filed against him on the “I-witness” platform alone.

She was diagnosed with a fetish disorder that involved a fetish for feminine clothing and a “predilection for feminine underwear,” according to a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health, who released a report on Sept. 24 last year.

The IMH report also found that Lim did not have an intellectual disability and was not in a state of mental health at the time.

Public protest over photos

Lim’s photos sparked outrage from other Instagram users and she soon deleted them.

Among the police reports filed against him was one, made on August 15 of last year, which read: “This guy likes sexually harassed people. He is going to take her clothes and fuck her or some shit. He came and harassed people in the area that he studied. Please arrest him or something. I don’t want to harass my friends. Thank you. “The complaint included a screenshot of Lim’s Instagram profile.

On August 16 of last year, Lim was arrested at his residence, which was searched. His mobile phone was sent for a forensic examination and was found to contain four obscene video files. Lim admitted to downloading them.

Assistant District Attorney Sean Teh said Lim’s Instagram profile was available for anyone to view and had caused great public annoyance. He sought a fine of $ 5,000.

Lim’s attorney, David Nayar, said his client’s photos had “spread like wildfire” and that he did not intend to be seen that way. He noted that a member of the public would have to look up his name in order to access the photos.

Lim, who used to be a driver for Grab, was currently unemployed and in psychiatric treatment under IMH, demonstrating his intention to get rid of his fetish, the lawyer said.
