The Premier League clash between Manchester United and Newcastle United will continue as planned despite Old Trafford staff members being forced into quarantine.

United announced Sunday morning that Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will assist manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during Newcastle’s visit to Old Trafford with other staff members forced to stay clear of COVID-19 protocols.

Sources have told ESPN that no player has been forced to isolate himself.

A club statement read: “Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the bench tonight as some members of the coaching staff have to isolate themselves.”

United has confirmed that the game, which will begin at 7pm GMT (2pm ET) on Sunday, will continue as planned.

Butt has been working as the club’s head of development for the club’s first team since leaving his position as academy director in 2019. Dempsey was part of Solskjaer’s senior staff before leaving the preseason tour in 2019 for medical reasons.
