Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea urged to sign ‘Young Michael Ballack’

Dietmar Hamann has hailed Kai Havertz as an “exceptional” player who reminds him of a “young Michael Ballack”, amid the interest of a trio of Premier League clubs.

It looks like the 20-year-old will be leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer, with several of the best clubs in Europe hanging around for a player who could cost up to £ 100 million.

Standard sport reports that Manchester United are following Havertz pair it with Bruno Fernandes, while both Chelsea and Liverpool have been linked to the offensive midfielder.

Frank Lampard’s blues are said to be considering Havertz as a Plan B for Philippe Coutinho of Barcelona, while Jurgen Klopp has been monitoring the young midfielder throughout his career and he is a great admirer

Havertz, who has won seven games with Germany by scoring a goal, has also been courted by German giants Bayern Munich after scoring 17 Bundesliga goals in 2018/19.

And former Liverpool midfielder Hamann believes the overkill is warranted, labeling him the best player in the Bundesliga and comparing his style to that of German legend Michael Ballack.

“The only player that stands out to me is Kai Havertz from Leverkusen,” said Hamann. Sky Sports when asked about his thoughts on Germany’s best player.

“He is an exceptional player, he reminds me of a young Michael Ballack.

“He has that air of arrogance in a good way about him.

“He has two feet, he’s tall, he’s good in the air, he’s very versatile.”

“He can play from the front, he can play in any position.

“I think he is the best player we have in Germany at the moment.”
