It is not an unusual sight to see cyclists on the road these days.
But when stomper Kevin saw a bicyclist in the middle of the car lane while his friend was driving, he decided to take out his phone to show his displeasure.
Kevin shared that the incident happened when he was in his friend’s car in East Coast Park on Sunday (Nov 29) at 8.26pm.
In the video Kevin posted, his friend can be heard asking him to “zoom in.”
After zooming in, Kevin begins his entertaining comment to show his annoyance at how the man was riding a bike “in the middle of the road.”
“It’s very selfish, I think something needs to be done,” Kevin says in the video.
Kevin then proceeds to conclude his account of the incident by saying, “Okay, that’s it, bye.”
The video, however, continues before abruptly cutting off Kevin mid-sentence.
Kevin told Stomp he was unsure of the exact number of vehicles behind his friend’s car, but estimated that the cyclist blocked “at least 20 motorists on the narrow stretch.”
“This truly selfish behavior cannot be tolerated! We are going to raise awareness of the correct behavior for cyclists to follow, which is to stay on the left side of the lane,” said Kevin.
“I was frustrated because I know that East Coast Park has dedicated bike lanes and yet this cyclist decided to hog car lanes during rush hour.
“I think his lack of awareness also puts himself in danger. So I think this video will be a good reminder for cyclists that this way of riding a bike is very unsafe.”
This is not the first time cyclists have blocked vehicles when riding their bikes in the middle of the road.
Last week, a man saw a group of 20 bicyclists corner two lanes on Punggol Drive.
According to the Road Traffic Law, those who travel by bicycle, assisted bicycle, tricycle or tricycle on a highway must ride a bicycle, assisted bicycle, tricycle or tricycle as close as possible to the left end of the road.
