Man Arrested for Driving Under the Influence After Turning Into the Opposite Lane and Crashing into a Car in Serangoon Central

A 23-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving after he swerved into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car in Serangoon Central on Thursday (December 24).

In response to an inquiry from Stomp, police said they were alerted to the accident involving two cars at 1.35am.

“One of the drivers, a 23-year-old man, was later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol,” police added.

Stomper Mervin He was driving home when he saw a car veer through the highway divider after making a right turn.

In the video Mervin posted, a white car can be seen making a wide right turn before swerving past the highway divider.

The car’s rear camera then shows the white car crashing into another car driving in the opposite direction.

“I can’t believe my vehicle was inches from being hit,” Mervin said.

“We didn’t stop to see what happened after that because we were already close to the crossing and the accident happened behind us, not in front of us.

“I’m not sure if anyone was injured, but I think that as drivers we should never take things for granted.

“When taking a turn, we must be slow because we never know if the roads are slippery.

“I really feel sorry for the car behind me that was hit for no reason.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
